For my Oct 2010 BS friends, here are pictures of our place!
Warning: This is LONG!
Joe and I have lived here for 4 months and 3 days (yes I counted). We have done a ton with the house but there is still a lot more to do - like hanging more art and a bunch of small and larger projects.
This is the most recent picture of the outside of our house (taken yesterday). We have done some things with mulch and cleaning up the yard but it looks pretty close to the same as when we bought it.

Off to the side yard we have our car port, which is a feature I have grown to love, as well as the basketball hoop that Joe cannot live without now. We never wanted one before and now we are going to have to have on at our next house.
The side stairs...this project was covered in snow when we bought the house so we didnt even know it was there! We have worked a bit on it but I think it is going to be more of a fall project.
We did put bricks in the stairs a couple weeks ago so we could at least have stairs (they were just frames before). Now up the stairs to the back!
One side of the house with the view of our deck and side garden.
The side garden. Many of these plants just started to grow so we let them go but all the low ones in the middle are veggie plants Joe planted. Next summer we might clear some of this out so we can plant more food plants.
See tomatos!
The view of our upwards sloping backyard. At least it is flat for a good ways but that hill gets hard to mow.
A little to the left of the last picture so you can see our shed. It needs some paint but it is really nice to have for storage.
And a view from the top of the hill back down towards our house.
Joe wanted me to highlight this area since he did the landscaping with the rocks underneath the hose - he is very proud of this area. The previous owners left tons of rocks randomly all over the yard that we have been trying to collect and organize so luckily we were able to use some here.
The other side of the house. You can tell we havent really done anything here but you can see our new AC unit!
And back to the front! Ready to go inside?
Here is Neeko at the door! He always greets our guests.
We have a split level house that I actually love but I wish the entry way was a bit bigger.
We have a split level house that I actually love but I wish the entry way was a bit bigger.
But since it is a split - you can either go Up....
Or Down. We are going down first.
At the base of the stairs is where we keep our little shoe rack. Off to the right is the door to our garage so we usually go in and out this lower door.
Turning left you can see our lower level...and all the paint options on the wall :). We obviously still need to paint down here and cant choose a color. To the left is a coat closet and to the right is our utility/laundry room.
And the very messy downstairs. I use this space to work out and to lay out my clothes to dry (as you can see from the blue shorts on the futon). But other than that I don’t come down here much.
The view from the other side. We do have our Wii and movie/games down here too.
Back to walking through the downstairs, it makes a L shape so here is the bottom of the L. Through that door is an unfinished work room and another room that the previous owners used as a dark room for photography. We use it for storage so I wont show you that. But there is also a back staircase over there that leads upstairs to our dining room. And off to the right is the downstairs bathroom...
is little but it is good to have another bathroom in the house.
The shower was also redone so it is pretty nice.
And now back upstairs!
To the left is our living room. I spend most of my time in here.
We have a big coffee table (from craigs list) in the middle of the couches with some awesome coffee table books (our wedding and HM albums :) - they were out for our housewarming party last weekend).
We bought our first big screen TV when we moved in for this space, as it was set up perfectly for one. We also have a gas fireplace that we havent used much (since it is currently 82 degrees out) but we are looking forward to using it in the winter.
To the right of the fireplace is our little display shelves that were built in. I might change them around later but they are good enough for now.
Even more to the right is our eat in kitchen area. We were going to put a little bistro table in the corner but I think we just might leave the low one as it ended up being our dumping place for purses/wallets/cell phones/mail/etc. Our dog, Neeko's, purple chair is also here. I hate how it looks but he loves it so we cant get rid of it.
In the eat in kitchen area looking at the kitchen. We just got those two stools and this is my new fav place to eat meals.
The kitchen! The previous owners redid this area so it is prolly the nicest place in the house.
One corner of the kitchen. It is pretty open with cutouts to the living room on either side.
And the other corner of the kitchen with a pass through into the dining room.
The dining room. We put up a new chandelier and reupholstered the chairs in this space. It also has big windows that look out to our backyard and deck.
To the left of the dining room is the 4th bedroom - or what we use as an office.
It is also Neeko's room so he wanted to say HI! You can see his food cube behind him on the floor.
The other corner of the office. That plastic grate on the floor is Neeko's bathroom. We trained him to go inside since when we got him we lived on the top floor of an apartment building with no elevator. It worked really well that we just kept it and it makes him really low maintenance.
Back out through the kitchen and you get the other view of the living room...and Joe sitting there paging through our HM album (I swear I didnt even tell him to do that).
Behind Joe you can see the small entryway from the top of the stairs.
And looking just to the left is our upstairs hallway. This leads to the upstairs bathroom and other three bedrooms. (And the pretty awesome laundry shoot!) The next project here is to put a bunch of framed pictures on the wall to the left.
The first door to the right is the bathroom. A lot of the work we have done to the house was in here.
It got new paint, mirror, facuet, toilet seat, towel hooks...
We removed the gold shower door and put in a shower curtian....
And put up new curtains on the window and over the door to the bathroom cabinet (we removed the door that was there since it was difficult to get into being so close to the door to the bathroom). Then across the hall is...
The Blue Room. I really want some artwork in white frames on these walls but that will come later.
The other side of the blue room.
The back into the hallway you can see the doors to the purple room and our bedroom.
The purple room. This is Joe's room (not for sleeping :) - just for his clothes) and his favorite color is purple so we went with a purple paint color.
Joe's closet and childhood dresser.
Joe's other dresser, although I have some stuff in there too). You can see our childhood stuffed animals on the top of the mirror. The dog is mine - his name is Rover (yes I was a very creative kid). I have had him since I was 3 yrs old. And the bear is Joe's - his name is Karate Bear. Rover and Karate Bear are friends now.
Then to our room. The art on the wall is from one of those Canvas On Demand deals. The paint also looks a little strange in this picture but it is much more mossy and neutral in person.
The other side of the room with my dresser and Neeko's little kennel.
My closet and the only other artwork we have on the walls in here so far - my danielle<3joe wedding hanger.
Well thanks for visiting!
(Joe when he saw me take this picture = "Is that your, Now Get Out of My House Picture?" Yep! :)
