After owning the house for a couple weeks and splitting our time between the apartment and the house it was finally moving day this past Saturday! Packing all your belongings into boxes really makes you realize how much stuff you really have. We filled 35 boxes plus about 15 other bins with the contents of our small 1 bedroom + den apartment. I honestly dont know how we didnt get lost in stuff over there.
With coaxing from friends who have rented movers in the past, we decided to make the investment and hire movers and we are so glad we did. It took 5 hours to pack up, drive the 1/2 hour over to the house, and then unpack but we didnt have to struggle with large pieces of furniture to get them out of out 2nd floor apartment into a split level home - worth every penny.
The only odd part about movers is what we were supposed to do while they were loading up the truck. We thought we were super prepared and had almost everything 100% packed before they got there so there was nothing for us to do. I asked them what people usually do while they load up their stuff and he told me they usually just sit and watch them....what??? I felt that would be incredibly awkward so after getting turned down after asking to help about 5 times I ended up cleaning the apartment kitchen while the loaded....our burners over there sparkle they are so clean now. At least unloading wasn’t as bad as I could help with putting boxes in rooms and unpacking.
So of course we need some pictures! I didnt think a big stack of boxes would be that interesting but the back of the truck pulled into our driveway was an interesting picture. That is almost our entire lives all packed into one truck. It doesnt look like much when you see it like that.
